Return Of The Light

"Ice Flame" The rising sun illuminates the sand under a thin layer of ice on Lake Tiorati, Harriman State Park, NY. Canon 7D, Sigma 70-300mm, ISO 100, f/22, 0.4 seconds.

It is time to celebrate the returning of the light! Despite the fact that it feels like winter has barely started, the days will be getting longer from this point forward. Tomorrow the day will be a whole second longer! I chose these two recent abstract images to celebrate the winter solstice. The ice symbolizing the winter, and the rising sun illuminating the sands below, symbolizing the return of the light. Happy winter to all and I wish you warmth and light in the coming new year.

"Thin Ice" The rising sun illuminates the sandy bottom below and the thin skin of ice above Lake Tiorati in Harriman State Park, NY. Canon 7D, Sigma 70-300mm, ISO 100, f/22, 0.8 seconds.
