Waders on (Thursday): Roseate Spoonbill Preening

This week's Waders on Wednesday (1 day late) comes from my recent trip to St. Augustine, FL to visit the wild wading bird rookery at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.  This year is the first year that roseate spoonbills (Platalea ajaja) have nested at the rookery and a northern breeding record for Florida.  This image is of an adult preening just after coming off the nest.  Enjoy!

  2. Thanks Robert. It is quite a sight; gets the heart pumping every time. Any plans to get down south to see them?
