Adirondack Adventures: Thinking Big

Fall foliage along the northeast shore of Connery Pond.

Here are some more traditional fall panoramic images from my trip to the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Park. Both these images were made in the morning after sunrise at Connery Pond. While they may look fairly small here in order to fit the width of the page, the first panorama is composed from seven vertical frames shot at a 300mm focal length (overlapped by about 30-50% in each frame), and the second is composed from ten vertical frames shot at a 70mm focal length. Since I don't have a panoramic head for my tripod yet and I'm not rotating around the node of the lens, I try for significant overlap between successive images to avoid issues with stitching later. Both were stitched using Adobe Photoshop.

I hope you had a great long weekend! I'll have more images throughout the week, so make sure to come back and check them out.
