Early Autumn at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

Last weekend I had the chance to spend the morning at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge, MD.  This is one of my favorite spots on the Eastern Shore.  Autumn is beginning to get in full swing; many of the trees are beginning to turn, the large flocks of geese and ducks are starting to arrive, and the resident and dispersing eagles are evident throughout the refuge.  Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:

  4. Elijah, I am often in your neck of the woods these days. My work takes me from Boise for 10-day stints in MD, VA, NC, and SC. I am excited to visit some of these places you photograph and blog about.

  6. Thanks all for the very kind comments. Fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year. I just wish it wasn't also my busiest time at work. @Birding_is_Fun DM me next time you are going to be in town and have some free time. With work and family obligations I can't promise anything, but I'd love to meet up and show you around one or more of the hotspots.
